RESUMÈ

Short Biography

Through ceramics and photography, I have been investigating the imbalance between man and nature.  On a Wing and A Prayer focused on New Zealand’s critically endangered birds and our responsibility to save them, the Gone Bird series in Flock Together exhibition reflected on what birds we had already lost and Pest Control explored how we lost them through the introduction of foreign animals to New Zealand. The three Ibis bird figures that featured in Ten group exhibition contemplated de-extinction and the efforts to bring back extinct birds. They come together each with an element to recreate life: bones, elixir, and eggs but they do not know if it can be done. The trio are reflective of scientists today who are actively engaging in bringing extinct animals back to life with a timeframe target of less than a decade.
